Please
review and print the following list of questions that you should
ask while considering a potential Disc Jockey for your special occasion.
1. What
about Friends and Relatives?
Every special occasion will be conducted just once, and it needs
to be done well. If you ask a friend or relative to handle your
function, consider this: It may save a little money, but it could
cost you a friendship!
2. Do
you operate your company as a full time business?
Part-time disc jockeys may not have the support network behind them
to assist if a mishap occurs on the day of your reception.
3. How
many years of experience do you have as a Disc Jockey?
Disc Jockeys must have experience if your special occasion is to
be a success.
4. What
type of equipment do you use?
Only professional equipment should be used for your function. You
do not want a Disc Jockey who is going to use a glorified home stereo.
Only professional equipment sounds good when played over a long
period.
5. What
is your standby service policy?
What is their policy if the equipment fails? What happens if the
Disc Jockey gets sick? A professional service has backup equipment
available and experienced people on standby until the completion
of the last function.
6. What
is your Dress Code?
A professional Disc Jockey service will certainly be in compliance
here.
7. Are
you licensed by the AVLA?
Your special event could end abruptly, if a licensing inspector
finds that your Disc Jockey is not licensed by the AVLA.
8. How
do you handle requests?
A professional Disc Jockey will not only have a wide variety of
music available, but will also be well organized with an indexing
system that lists all of the music by title or artist.
9. Be
careful about getting value for your money.
The old rule applies: "If it sounds too good to be true, it
probably is too good to be true.". Don't strive to handle your
special occasion with a "bargain basement" approach, but
do look for competitive pricing.
10.
May I see a few customer testimonials?
Any professional Disc Jockey who has been in business for several
years will have a volume of client testimonials for you to read.
Finally, remember
to use as much care and wisdom to select your Disc Jockey as every
other service for your wedding or special occasion. Make sure that
the Disc Jockey you hire will deliver all that he or she has promised
and will complement the efforts of others!
